Making money as an artist, things to keep in mind

Who doesn’t want to make money with their passion? There are few people out there that enjoy work they have no passion for. We artists are quite privileged when it comes to that. We have a passion, and that passion can bring in some good money. But how do you make your first money? What do you need to do to get there, and when you do get there, what should your rates be? And how do you make sure both you and your client are happy at the end of the line?

Gathering resources for your creature designs

Creature design is a relatively small, bur flourishing field. Up to roughly 20 years ago, you needed a giant library to be able to make effective designs, and information on the subject was very hard to get. That is different now in the age of the internet. We have all the information at our fingertips. But too much choice can be overwhelming too. So how do you effectively gather resources for your creature designs?

Things you need to know as a starting artist

Starting your journey as an artist can be really frightening. There are many things you need to know, which can be really overwhelming. Where do you start? What do you need to know to get started? But also: What is irrelevant when you just get started? In many cases ‘less is more’. This counts for information too. Not saying though that you should have little knowledge, not at all. When it comes to knowledge: The more the better. But when you’re new in this field, many things will do nothing but overwhelm you and a lot of the information out there will be irrelevant up to a much later stage. So what is important when you’re new to (digital) art?
